WHO WE ARE
MICHAEL WARDEN
BRAVEHEART FOUNDER
I’m the founder and president of the Ascent Coaching Group, Inc., and have been coaching full time since 2003. I'm trained and certified through the Coaches Training Institute, as well as in Relationship Intelligence and Systems Work through The Center for Right Relationship. I’m also a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) with the International Coach Federation, which is the principle governing body of professional coaches around the world.

I’m a native Texan, but live now in the mountains of Colorado. I love the life of adventure and beauty I get to live here. I’m an avid explorer, writer, and leader. I’m a lifelong student of personal transformation—the art and science of how people and groups really can experience authentic life change.
​
I believe everyone is created to be a change agent, uniquely designed by God for a specific and beautiful purpose, and that we will never be fully alive until we find that purpose and live it out. It’s my mission to help other people discover theirs, and unleash them to bring their gift fully to the world.

That’s why I founded The BraveHeart Men, to participate with God in freeing men’s hearts to pursue His highest dream for their lives.
JUSTIN WILLIAMS

I am a Husband and Father first, and the untameable, creative spirit behind the Legendary Marriage Podcast, alongside my incredible wife, Danielle.
The most important journey of my life truly began with my attendance at a Braveheart Intensive, and I immediately knew that I wanted to be a part of bringing this important work to the lives of men across the globe.
I am a fully trained Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), a Certified Human Behavior Specialist, Associate Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation, and a Prepare-Enrich Facilitator. With more than 15 years of ministry leadership, and nearly 30 years of entrepreneurial experience, I combine deep introspective coaching, with strategic and tactical action plans that get results for my clients.
When I’m not working, chasing my 2 amazing daughters, or dating my wife, you’re likely to find me on the trail hiking, or hammocking in the shade by the nearest flowing water. A woodworker, motorcycle enthusiast, and adventure seeker, I am always on the go.
My personal mission is to awaken, unleash, and untame the hearts of men to experience the beauty, intimacy and adventure of a life with God, that lights up the world.

I have been in vocational ministry with the local church for the past 13 years—leading students, young adults, small groups, men’s groups and dozens of short-term mission trips around the world. Other than my 7 year detour to Chicago for school at the Moody Bible Institute, I have always resided in Texas, specifically Austin where I was born and raised.
I love all outdoor activities and feel closest to my creator when I’m standing in awe of His creation. A perfect day for me would be fly fishing the Llano River, and then spend the evening around a campfire with close friends. I’m a DIYer, love working with my hands and learning new trades. I am husband to my beautiful wife Calla, and father of two.
​
Facilitating conversation around our identity in Christ and spiritual maturity has been a honed skill through a variety of different settings including the privilege of serving men through the Braveheart Intensive.
​
I believe that eternity lies just under the surface of the heart. My mission is to help awaken that eternity and all that comes with it to help others become aware of what it’s like to be fully alive in Christ!

TIM PYNES

My heart comes alive when I get to be out in the beauty of God's creation in the Rocky Mountains where I live, especially if I am standing knee deep in a small stream, fly fishing for native trout.
My heart also comes alive when I get to be a witness to transformational change in the life of a person who has experienced the healing power of God, and that's why I am committed to this important work of the BraveHeart Intensive.
When I'm not getting to go on adventures with my wife of 20 years and my two teenage daughters, I work as a Hospital & Hospice Chaplain, and I am also a trained Spiritual Director, having completed the 1-year program through Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
I feel blessed to come alongside others as a Soul Friend (Anam Cara), to help discover, and respond to, the active presence and leading of the indwelling Spirit of God.
NATHANIEL HILPERT

I helped start a nationally-recognized mental health non-profit called HeartSupport. I’ve talked to over 10,000 people at concerts and festivals across the country about their past and struggles and have conversed with hundreds more online. I’ve had the opportunity to see the common fabric of humanity underneath the veneer of success and social media. At our core we are all devastatingly wounded and spectacularly glorious.
​
Braveheart has taken me deeper into my own wounds and helped me rise into my own glory. My mission in my work, in my community, and in Braveheart is to help other men do the same.
​
In my personal life, I married my high school sweetheart, and we had three kids in two years. I love rhythm (bass, drums, and beatbox), reading fantasy, exploring suburban pockets of wildness, and the right combination of beer and board games.

Rob Cupp
BRAVEHEART LEADER
I grew up in church and struggled with religion, but I fell in love with Jesus after He hunted me down in my senior year of High School. That began a crazy life journey with Him that has taken me on a bunch of unconventional faith adventures.
​
I started in business school and a family business. Then, asked a woman to marry me without ever dating her…she said “yes” (after 5 weeks of praying) and now we are celebrating 25 years of marriage. Together, Bridget and I followed Jesus and moved across the country and left everything we knew to go into full-time ministry. Then after two decades of leading, discipling, teaching, preaching and developing people of all ages, God called me back to business.
​
Bridget and I have had the privilege and joy of raising Sophia, Chase and Foster. Watching them grow while helping and discipling other people and their kids has given me a passion for seeing what God can do to transform a life in big and small ways.
​
When I encountered Braveheart in 2021, I saw again the power of God transforming my own life! I was refreshed, restored and reinvigorated to continue living out my unique identity and purpose in Christ. And now I just want to help others experience God’s Presence, Power and Peace even more!
ROBB OVERHOLT
BRAVEHEART LEADER
Being a catalyst, I have spent the last 24 years serving in Christian ministry as well as the marketplace. I have pastored and led in three successful church plants in North Carolina, Virginia, and Las Vegas, have served as a consultant for churches and non-profits nationally, traveled as a corporate trainer and keynote speaker, and most recently served as an Executive Pastor at Gateway Church in Austin, TX, overseeing six campuses.
With a passion for helping people reach their full potential, I specialize in personal and leadership development. As a trainer of the MBTI, Strengthsfinder, and the Enneagram, as well as an effective facilitator of the StratOp process, I have traveled around the world mentoring dozens of people along the way and training leaders everywhere from India to Indiana and at seminaries as well as corporate seminars.
​
I currently live in Coastal VA, USA, where I primarily write, speak, and continue to coach change makers. I have been married to my incredible bride, Shaula, for 28 years, and am the father to two amazing adult children: my son Logan, and my daughter Laney.
JEREMY APEL
BRAVEHEART LEADER
I love a good adventure—and I get a thrill from traveling, especially internationally, but being with others is what I really love. Well, that and a good beer & great food. One of the great adventures of my life has been in ministry, where I've had the opportunity to invest in others for over 25 years. Four of those were spent with college students in Athens, Greece drinking a fair amount of frappe (Greek coffee)—life was lived at a slow pace filled with great conversation. I'm fascinated by people and filled with questions to spark them to engage spiritually. I love to build new things from the old, and I prefer old watches to new ones.
​
What I love most is my wife, Julie. She has been by my side for the best of times and the toughest of times, and it's hard for me to imagine this adventure without her. We have recently launched our twin boys from home, where we now watch them pursue their passions. We still have some years left before our precious middle-school daughter does the same. Now, I'm just thankful that my evenings are spent playing volleyball with her. My weekends are spent sailing and wake surfing, learning how to be a BBQ pit boss, and spending quality time with family and friends.
​
Above all, the whole of my life is spent growing in the grace of knowing Jesus more intimately, and understanding that, though I bring nothing to the table, He brings everything to me.

After spending 15 years serving as a pastor I followed the desires of my heart and God's lead into real estate development. I have always called Texas home, aside from my 7-year detour to Chicago for college at Moody Bible Institute. I am husband to my beautiful wife Calla, and father of two—Wyatt and Grace.
I love outdoor activities and feel closest to my Creator when I’m standing in awe of His creation. A perfect day for me would be fly fishing, painting on a canvas and then spending the evening around a fire with close friends.
I thoroughly enjoy facilitating conversations around our identity in Christ and spiritual maturity. This has been a honed skill through years in the church and the privilege of serving men through the Braveheart Intensive.
I believe that eternity is hidden in the heart. My mission is to help awaken that eternity and all that comes with it to help others become aware of what it’s like to be fully alive in Christ!
TRAVIS SHEPARD
BRAVEHEART LEADER
I love building relationships and advancing the kingdom of God. I've led small groups of Special Operators in global, austere environments; and am currently learning to play the bagpipes and piano. I'm a dad with two daughters (beautifully hard season of hormones), a native Texas, and my favorite movies are Lonesome Dove and Braveheart. With any free time, I love to Captain sailing trips in the British Virgin Islands and watch people become familiar and in-love with the ocean.
My favorite quote: “You see, life in San Francisco is still just life. If you want any one thing too badly, it’s likely to turn out to be a disappointment. The only healthy way to live life is to learn to like all the little everyday things – like a sip of good whiskey in the evening, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk, or a feisty gentleman like myself.”

I live in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio with Nancy, my wife of 30 years. We have 3 grown children. Every morning I enjoy my first cup of coffee with the Lord, enjoying his company. Nothing means more to me than the presence of God and bringing his love and encouragement to others.
​
I started my career in sales with NCR corporation and quickly transitioned into ministry with YWAM, seminary and pastoral ministry at Grace Church. It's a joy to work in assimilation and discipleship ministries and BraveHeart is a natural extension of that.
​
BraveHeart has been a great gift to me, and a blessing to so many other men like me. I’m so grateful for the chance to help pass that gift along to others.
